The Batista family, a family of five, arrived at our shelter with dreams of a safe, stable place to call home. They were a family in need, but they were also a family full of potential. They were eager for change and ready to do whatever it took to secure a better future for themselves.
Within a short month of entering our shelter, all adults in the Batista family, Uncle, Mom and her Partner, secured employment through our Workforce Development program. This program is one of the many ways UMOM strives to empower the families we serve. It provides structured, comprehensive training that equips individuals with the skills they need to thrive in the workforce.
The Batista’s were more than just participants in this program; they were an active and enthusiastic part of it. They embraced every opportunity for growth and progress. They attended every meeting, completed every task, and took every chance they could to learn and grow. Their resilience and determination were a testament to their character and a reflection of the effectiveness of our support services.
On January 19th, a significant milestone was achieved. With the help of UMOM, the Batista family transitioned into their own apartment. They were no longer just dreaming of a safe, stable home – they were living in it. This marked an important step in their journey towards self-sufficiency. It proved that the formula:
