A message from Darlene Newsom, UMOM CEO

Dear friend,

Thank you for following along over the past few days as we’ve shared with you the story of Bella’s* family. As this year comes to a close, I hope you will consider giving what you can to help change the lives of many more families like Bella’s here at UMOM. Because of generous donors like you, Bella’s family was able to finally get the help, support and resources they needed to start a new life and end their cycle of homelessness.

One of the people who have helped them along the way was their case manager, Taylor. She wanted to say a few words about the family.

“When Bella and her family first came to UMOM, I could tell they felt beaten down. They had been in and out of homelessness and they just didn’t believe in themselves. You could see in their eyes they had very little hope. But that all changed in just a few weeks at UMOM. Bella came into my office in tears when she found out that she could earn her high school diploma through a scholarship program. The kids have overcome so much and have been able to get the stability they needed to thrive. They’ve been through so much and no one was there to help them, but they’ve done everything to turn their lives around. The family found hope again at UMOM. ”  – Taylor, Bella’s Case Manager

We are so proud of Bella and her family, and are so grateful to watch families like hers transform their lives every single day. But there are still many families, women and unaccompanied youth who are living in their cars, on a friend’s couch or on the streets. Your gift today will provide a safe place to sleep, food and resources to those experiencing homelessness in our community.

An anonymous donor will generously match every donation up to $10,000 until tonight at midnight. Can I count on you to help us reach our goal and make double the impact on families, single women and unaccompanied youth experiencing homelessness in our community? Click here to make your end of the year gift now!

Thank you for your support, I wish you and yours a happy and healthy new year,

Darlene Newsom

P.S. It’s not too late to get in your 2018 Arizona Charitable Tax Credit donation. When you donate to UMOM you can redirect your Arizona state taxes to help those experiencing homelessness. Individuals can receive a tax credit up to $400 and couples filing jointly up to $800**.
