Stockings, Toys and Gift Cards for UMOM Families!

UMOM team members distributed hundreds of toys, gift cards and holiday stockings to families this past season, thanks to the generous contributions from the community and dedicated supporters like you! UMOM collected and handed out more than 1,500 stockings for families across all of our housing programs and emergency shelters. We received enough gift cards for every family to purchase gifts for the kids and any items needed to make it a special holiday. AND, UMOM got hundreds of donated toys, thanks to radio station Power 98.3 FM and LGE Design, both of which held toy drives for our kids. Our on-site Boys and Girls Club hosted a festive Holiday party for children (see here). UMOM’s longtime affinity group, the Women’s Auxiliary, provided nice things for the ladies at Halle Women’s Center: pajamas, blankets and handmade pillowcases. (Here’s a link to the Halle Holiday Party.) Our supporters always help make the holidays special for people in our community going through a difficult period in their lives. Thank you for all you do!

Your Support Changes Lives

Supporting UMOM makes a difference for every one of our clients, like Paula, who recently stayed at Halle Women’s Center. Paula had become ill to the point that it was difficult to hold a job. Even though her doctors told her she could no longer work, the process to be approved for disability can take months, even years. Paula waited, but after draining her savings and running up credit cards to get by, she could no longer afford rent. She had no choice but to live in her car with her dog, Gunner. After calling around to various agencies for help, Paula found UMOM. She was able to get into Halle shortly afterward (with her approved companion pet), where she took advantage of services to help her rebuild her life while she awaits the outcome of her disability claim. “The staff at Halle go above and beyond. You can tell they do what they do out of love and compassion,” she said. Paula is thankful and looking forward to the new year. “I am grateful to have found Halle Women’s Center…with them in my corner, I will soon be back on top of the world.”

It’s Time to Cast Your Target Votes for UMOM

All that shopping at Target Stores over the last few months using the Target app has earned you votes that can be cast to help UMOM earn grant money! (If you have not downloaded the Target app yet, you still have time to do so to earn votes when you shop at Target. Get the app through your smartphone app store, sign up in store at the register or do so online at target.com/circle.) Starting now, you can use your nonprofit votes for UMOM.

Click on that and you’ll see a page with more details. Click one more time and you’ll reach the voting page where you can cast your virtual ballot for UMOM!

Voting continues through March 31st. The nonprofit organization with the most votes wins.
