Volunteer Activities and COVID-19
UMOM has deep roots in our community and started with dedicated volunteers whose work led to our founding nearly 60 years ago. Our volunteers have always played a critical role in our ability to deliver the support needed to help families and single women get back on their feet and transitioned to a life of stability. Unfortunately, since March 2020, all of our traditional volunteer opportunities, such as Read to Me, meal service, and other in-person activities, have been paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The safety of our clients, staff, and supporters is our first priority. We know many of you are ready to roll up your sleeves and get back to work. We appreciate your patience as we plan the return of our Volunteer Program in early 2022.
Don’t Worry…You Can Still Make an Impact
There are still plenty of ways you can help us as we continue our mission of restoring hope, rebuilding lives and ending homelessness. Check out the ideas below:
Help Spread the Word About UMOM’s Work
Join One of Our Special Event Committees
- Connect with other community members and be a part of the fun in planning one of our fundraising events. Contact our Director of Marketing and Outreach, Cassidy Penney for more information.
- While at UMOM, we provide families with all of their daily needs – hygiene items, diapers, bedding, towels, clothing – all the daily necessities you use at home. By hosting a drive and collecting the items we need, you ensure that our families and single women can focus on what’s important, employment and housing.
Become a UMOM Champion By Joining One of Our Affinity Groups
You can host a fundraiser as an individual, family, business, neighborhood association, faith community or any group. Any and all ideas are welcome. We are happy to work with you to make your fundraiser all that it can be!
From all of us at UMOM, thanks for supporting our mission!
